Emily Aston applies her veterinary and research expertise to drive TechAccel's science advancement projects in animal health & nutrition:

  • Perform IP and technical due diligence on new investment opportunities
  • Engage in calls with founders, intellectual property officers, and subject-matter experts to evaluate new investment opportunities
  • Determine project scope, budget, and timeline for multi-stage science advancement research projects in collaboration with our research partners

Emily is a USDA-AFRI-NIFA-EWD postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Davis, where she performs research in poultry virology and immunology:

  • Study immune mechanisms of resistance to avian influenza in chickens
  • Conduct COVID-19 research in collaboration with researchers from Stanford University and the University of Technology Sydney, in which antibodies specific to a SARS-CoV-2 protein are purified from eggs to be used as a nasal spray in healthcare workers to protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection
  • Train researchers in Ghana on Nanopore sequencing technology using the MinION, a portable, real-time device for RNA and DNA sequencing
